Tandin Wangmo is a dedicated and passionate 19-year-old university student from Bhutan, currently pursuing pre-undergraduate studies in Biophysics, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology (BBMB) at the Asian University for Women. With a strong commitment to youth and women empowerment, as well as sustainable development, Tandin has actively engaged herself in various initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to drive positive change in her community and beyond. She is optimistic about collaborating with fellow youth leaders to shape a brighter, more equitable, and sustainable future.
Tandin’s project, “Ripples of Growth,” is set to be based in Chittagong, Bangladesh, and will focus on the SDGs related to health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities. Recognizing the significant gender gap in Bangladesh, particularly in education and technology access, Tandin’s project seeks to educate on menstrual hygiene management and reproductive health, reduce the stigma surrounding women’s health, and offer digital literacy training. A key feature of the project will involve mentorship programs, pairing women and girls with mentors from the technology sector who will provide guidance, support, and encouragement in pursuing education and careers in STEM.
By collaborating with NGOs, and educational institutions, and leveraging mentorship programs, Tandin aims to create a sustainable and impactful project that empowers women and girls, fosters community cohesion, and addresses pressing societal challenges. Through mentorship programs, rapport building, and community engagement, Tandin envisions a future where women and girls are equipped with essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead and contribute to society.
SDGs: 3. Good Health and Well-being, 4. Quality Education, 5. Gender Equality, 10. Reduced Inequalities
