The Asian Girls in Action Project 2023 has come to a wrap!

In the spirit of global advocacy for girls’ rights, the GOH was delighted to host the 2023 “Asian Girls in Action Project” Annual Project Presentation on October 14th, marking the conclusion of this inspiring initiative.

In this inaugural year, eight girls from across Asia fulfilled their dreams of transforming their local communities and of creating a more sustainable world.

The project first kicked off in May, where our eight fellows embarked on a trip to Taiwan and took part in Project-Based Learning (PBL) workshops organised by the GOH in partnership with iEARN Taiwan (台灣國際教育資源網學會). Each of our fellows have devised an innovative project aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the hope to generate meaningful impact within their communities.

On October 14th, our eight incredible fellows finally got the opportunity to present their project findings & share their inspiring journeys with us. Here are their projects:
Tasmiya Islam (Bangladesh): “Environment friendly recycling factory”
Anjali Haryana (India): “Badi si Asha (Great Hope)”
Queen Azalia Rahmawati (Indonesia): “Transitioning Beyond Plastic: Empowering Youth for Sustainable Waste Solutions”
– Kareeshini Priyadev (Malaysia): “Nature Care Sanitary Pads”
Cee Jay Sureta (Philippines): “Active Citizenship: Imparting Civic Education on 21st-Century Learners”
Dora Tsai (Taiwan): “Zero Plastic Bag Sustainable Action”
Aynura Erejepbaeva (Uzbekistan): “LadyUp STEM School”

A heartfelt congratulations to Queen, Aynura and Anjali, our 3 selected 2023 Annual Project winners!

A special mention goes to Narges from Afghanistan, who couldn’t execute her project due to Taliban government restrictions. Her resilience and determination earned her the title of
“Honorary Asian Girls Ambassador.” In a moving speech, she compared Afghan girls to lotus flowers, thriving despite harsh conditions, showing unyielding strength.

Thank you to all of our fellows, mentors, facilitators, and partnering organisations for making this project a huge success! We look forward to continuing this project in the years to come.
Girls, let’s change the world together!
