Gender-related Laws in Taiwan
Throughout more than 30 years of tireless service, the Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) has promoted the enactment and amendment of many important human rights bills, including taking the lead in bringing about the enactment of the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act, promoting the Anti-Child Prostitution Movement, and successfully advocating for related legislation in 1995. In collaboration with the Modern Women’s Foundation and Judge Kao Feng-shen (高鳳仙), GOH promoted the enactment of three domestic violence laws – the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, the Sexual Assault Crime Prevention Act, and the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act – thereby creating the most powerful set of anti-violence laws in Taiwan. Later, GOH was also instrumental in bringing about the enactment of the Human Trafficking Prevention Act and the Family Proceedings Act, as well as the amendment of the law on abandonment and the Juvenile Justice Act, and other human rights-related laws.
