Shidi - Taiwanese version of The Vagina Monologues

Since 2015, The Garden of Hope has performed Shidi Episode I to show the public women’s life stories and learn about gender issues in Taiwan and the advocacy work that has allowed us to move forward. The performance takes the audience back in time to see every step in Taiwan’s gender equality movement to date.
The ultimate goal of Shidi is to end gender-based violence.

Theme:
Shidi Episode I: Sexual assault/sexual abuse/sexual exploitation
Shidi Episode II: Violence in intimate relationships/children
Shidi Episode III: Sexual discrimination
2018 Shidi: Complete showing of all three parts

Purpose and significance:
1. To portray the life stories of women who are neglected, oppressed, and wounded.
2. To revise entrenched traditional views and myths about women.
3. The Chinese word “di” in “Shidi” means “clitoris” and represents the concept of putting women at the center of the discussion.
