Sormuun is a 15-year-old from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia who has a passion for STEM subjects and challenging the stereotypes in a male-dominated domain.
With a project titled “Equal Play,” Sormuun addresses the underrepresentation and lack of support for female athletes in male-dominated sports. Through comprehensive goals aimed at raising awareness, improving facilities, combating discrimination, and empowering girls, she seeks to create inclusive and respectful environments for all athletes. The project’s beneficiaries include female athletes, coaches, parents, schools, and sports clubs, all of whom stand to benefit from enhanced facilities, reduced discrimination, and increased opportunities for participation.
To achieve these goals, Sormuun proposes thorough research, awareness-raising campaigns, and fundraising efforts to establish support systems for coaches and administrators. Her project will involve collaborative initiatives with local sports celebrities and influential figures, social media campaigns featuring empowering stories, and community-wide sports events dedicated to promoting gender equality.
Sormuun envisions a future where female athletes feel secure and empowered to excel in male- dominated areas such as sports. Through collaborative efforts to implement safety protocols, maintain cleanliness standards, and uphold principles of fairness and equality, Sormuun aims to create an environment conducive to the holistic development and well-being of these athletes.
