We had an incredible opportunity on July 18th as our 2023 Asian Girls in Action Project fellows visited Taiwan’s 外交部 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC（Taiwan）. We had the privilege of meeting Ms. Candance Wang, the director-general of the Department of NGO International Affairs 外交部非政府組織國際事務會, MOFA Youth Ambassadors, and MOFA staff.
The event featured speakers from our partnering organizations, including #BRAC, Women’s Aid Organisation, Breakthrough India, and Children International Manila. The session commenced with an inspiring speech by Ay-Won Pan, GOH’s standing director, highlighting the remarkable work GOH has done over the years to support the empowerment of Asian girls. Candance Wang also shared MOFA’s commitment to youth exchanges in Asia.
In addition to the uplifting speeches, our fellows had the opportunity to present their projects at MOFA, sharing the challenges Asian girls face today. We were deeply moved by their determination to change the future. Our partnering organizations also shared their efforts in supporting young girls.
Later, the MOFA youth ambassadors shared their experiences in cultural exchange and their efforts to promote Taiwan overseas. The MOFA staff expressed their appreciation for the knowledge gained during the event and encouraged the girls to pursue their dreams. We extend our heartfelt thanks to MOFA for hosting our fellows and facilitating the exchange of projects with their youth ambassadors. We eagerly anticipate future exchanges and collaborations!
