Hsinchu Christmas Market supports the Garden of Hope 2016/12/16
Scenes from the Hsinchu Christmas Market
The annual Hsinchu Christmas Market organized by Hsinchu Jollification took place at the Farm Coffee leisure farm in the northern district of Hsinchu City on Saturday December 10, 2016. Put together by the local expat community, the market was held in spacious leisure farm facilities, with a large grass lawn, farm animals for children to feed, and even a jumping castle and train rides. For the adults, there was live music, a DJ, food, arts and crafts, and other refreshments.

Proceeds from the market went to the Garden of Hope Foundation, the Aletta Foundation and the animal welfare group Taichung Paws. The Garden of Hope used its donation to support new teenage parents, who face prejudice and social exclusion as they struggle to support their families and raise their children. The money will help make this winter a little warmer for these young families as they move toward a more stable future.

The market was an opportunity for residents to do some Christmas shopping, showcase locally made products, and help out Taiwanese charities as well. A great time was had by all, as one participant posted, “Big Thanks to the hosts and everyone who had a part in the wonderful day that was the Christmas Market. I can’t wait for the next event!”

The Christmas Market is organized by Hsinchu Jollification, a non-profit organization that holds Christmas and Easter markets each year to raise money for charity. Past beneficiaries include MANA Animal Adoption, Joy Project (Philippines) and KIVA (USA). This year all proceeds went back to the community in Taiwan.
