Workshops

The Asian Girls’ Campaign annual workshops aim to empower girls. As of 2023, GOH collaborates with iEARN Taiwan, initiating Project-Based Learning workshops, enhancing fellow’s abilities to effectively execute their SDG projects. We partner with diverse organisations to patent workshops tailored to participants’ needs.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) workshops

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional approach, wherein students learn through engagement in their personal projects. In collaboration in iEARN Taiwan, our adept facilitators work closely with participants to refine their projects.

When our fellows visited Taiwan in 2023, they engaged in the Power Camp after completing 3 online sessions.

The week commenced with an inspiring workshop facilitated by iEARN Taiwan’s Doris and Vinny, alongside mentors Becky, Jas, and Sylvia. The fellows learnt the significance of peer critique collaboration, mastered the art of incorporating constructive feedback, and improved presentational skills by presenting projects to diverse audiences. Finally, they identified strategies to achieve their anticipated goals.

Additionally, they heard advice from students from Tamkang Senior High School, who had completed their PBL projects, enriching the fellows’ learning journey.

The program concluded with presentations from fellows about their projects. The presentations were informative and inspirational, reflecting the hard work and dedication invested in their projects. The presentations acted not only as an opportunity to improve their public speaking skills, but also as a trial-run for the fellows’ upcoming presentations.

The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) has been dedicated to empowering girls for over two decades. In the past decade, we’ve expanded our efforts to reach girls in Asia, fostering close partnerships with NGOs in the region. Together, we advocate for the elevation of girls’ rights, aiming to create a girl-friendly environment worldwide.

This year, we were delighted to host the Asian Girls in Action Project fellows—a group of girls from 6 different Asian countries. Over 30 girls came together to participate in the GOH Girls Day- Empowerment Workshop for Girls on July 20. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for girls to learn, exchange experiences, and build new friendships.

A presentation from Landy, Senior Associate Director of the Channel Operation Department at Shin Kong Bank, kickstarted the workshop. Landy highlighted essential skills in financial management, financial services, and career guidance, strengthening the girls’ financial awareness. Landy also raised the importance of innovative thinking, and female professional leadership based on her own workplace experiences. She shared insights into overcoming challenges in leading a team, encouraging young girls to invest in themselves, enhance their abilities, and seize opportunities.

Next, Vanessa, Director of Communications and PR at P&G Careers Hong Kong and Taiwan, along with Iris, Manager, engaged in discussions with the girls on gender awareness and how to leverage their influence to create societal change. The girls shared their own life experiences and discussed sustainability plans. Through mutual discussion, they explored ways to make a positive impact in their respective environments.

Finally, instructors from KISS ME COSMETICS guided each girl to create her own makeup. Witnessing the girls support each other was a joyous moment. We are thrilled that they seized the opportunity to make new friends, cultivate international friendships, and understand the true meaning of ‘girls supporting girls.’ Our hope is that every girl can approach each day with these values in mind.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) workshops

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional approach wherein students acquire knowledge through hands-on engagement in authentic and personally significant projects. In collaboration with iEARN Taiwan, our adept facilitators work closely with participants to refine their projects, ensuring a more comprehensive and effective project execution.

In 2023, we hosted three online sessions, extending them to physical ones during the Power Camp when our fellows visited Taiwan:

The week commenced with an inspiring in-person workshop facilitated by iEARN Taiwan’s Doris and Vinny, alongside mentors Becky, Jas, and Sylvia. The fellows immersed themselves in the significance of peer critique collaboration, mastering the art of seeking and incorporating feedback constructively. They also honed their skills in presenting projects effectively to individuals with diverse backgrounds, staying on track, and identifying strategies to achieve their anticipated goals.

Following this, they exchanged projects with students from Tamkang Senior High School, who had successfully completed their PBL projects the previous year. These students generously shared their experiences, enriching the learning journey for all involved.

The program concluded with a grand finale as the fellows presented their projects through captivating posters within a strict time limit. Conveying essential information in such a short span was undoubtedly challenging, but our fellows rose to the occasion. The presentations proved to be both informative and inspirational, reflecting the hard work and dedication invested in their projects. This exercise provided a golden opportunity for them to fine-tune their public speaking and presentation skills, acting as a crucial trial run for their upcoming presentations in the fall.

In the morning session, Landy, Senior Associate Director of the Channel Operation Department at Shin Kong Bank, shared essential skills in financial management, financial services, and career guidance with the girls. Strengthening their financial knowledge, Landy also introduced innovative thinking from girls in different countries and promoted female professional leadership based on her own workplace experiences. She shared insights into overcoming challenges in leading a team, encouraging young girls to invest in themselves, enhance their abilities, and seize opportunities in various fields.

In the afternoon, Vanessa, Director of Communications and PR at P&G Careers Hong Kong and Taiwan, along with Iris, Manager, engaged in discussions with the girls on gender awareness and how to leverage their influence to create societal change. The girls shared their own life experiences, interacted with one another, and discussed sustainability plans. Together, they explored ways to make a positive impact in their respective environments.

The workshop concluded with KISS ME COSMETICS instructors guiding each girl to create her own makeup using different tools. Witnessing the girls pick up mirrors, support each other, and discover their best looks was a joyous moment. We are thrilled that they seized the opportunity to make new friends, cultivate international friendships, and understand the true meaning of girls supporting girls. Our hope is that every girl can approach each day with a positive attitude, embracing the beauty of their own unique bloom.
