On March 15, The Global Network of Women’s Shelters (GNWS) hosted an NGO CSW67 Parallel Event on “Technology & Innovation: Threat or Opportunity for Women’s Safety?” Topics include an update to the global women’s helpline, Lila.Help, and representatives from each continent of the GNWS network shared the impact of digital technology in their regions.
The Parallel Event was opened by Kalliopi Mingeirou, Chair of the Ending Violence against Women and Girls Section at UN Women, and highlighted UN Women’s continued support for GNWS and Lila.Help.

This year’s NGO CSW67 theme includes promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment through digital technology innovation. Lila.Help, initiated by GNWS, fully embodies the concepts conveyed by this theme. Lila.Help is the world’s first website to collect women’s helplines from countries around the world, providing immediate assistance to those seeking help. In addition to the support of UN Women, Lila.Help is supported and partnered with many non-profit organizations and global corporations.
GNWS and its members on all continents will continue to work to add more countries and organizations to Lila.Help, as well as advocate for governments that do not provide hotlines to highlight the importance of hotlines for women who are victims of violence. In addition, GNWS will raise more resources to translate Lila.Help into more languages and create an interface accessible to people with disabilities, so that more communities around the world can benefit from it. GOH will also continue to serve as one of GNWS’ Executive Committee, giving voice to survivors in Taiwan and Asia on a global platform.
