In 2019, we celebrated the seventh Taiwan Girls Day! To encourage Taiwanese girls to actively participate in public affairs and politics, this year, The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) and our five Asian girl ambassadors not only called on girls from all over the world to celebrate together but also specially invited new-generation female legislators Dai Wei-shan (New Taipei City Councilor of the Democratic Progressive Party) and Xu Qiao-xin (Taipei City Councilor of the KMT) to share their journeys and experiences of participation in politics, encouraging girls to see the power of civic engagement.
In the afternoon, GOH specially designed a civic participation workshop, which led Taiwanese girls and Asian girls to the Taipei City Council to ask questions of Miao Bo-ya, the Taipei City Councilor of the Social Democratic Party. This encouraged girls to understand the importance of the councilors’ work, share their experiences, and learn more about civic participation as a means of empowerment.
