2015 One Billion Rising: Drum, Dance, Rise

In response to this year’s International V-Day One Billion Rising (OBR) event, The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) arranged the OBR-Drumming against Violence series of events.
The event opened with a drumming performance by students from Xin Dian Elementary School. Then, Eve Ensler, GOH CEO Chi Hui-jung, and Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je played drums with other participants in a symbolic effort to stop violence. Lastly, all the participants performed the annual One Billion Rising flash mob dance.

In response to the global campaign One Billion Rising to end violence against women, GOH led nearly 300 people in holding up glow sticks to create the word “justice” in front of Liberty Square at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, symbolizing access to justice for the one billion women who have been victims of or are at risk of violence.
